The main role of this hardware piece is to serve as an anchoring point for guy wires or conductors on a pole. It is commonly seen in electric distribution and telecom networks, especially at locations where poles experience uneven tension — such as corners, line terminals, or sections requiring extra stability. Rather than being bolted directly into the pole, the clip attaches through a cone head bolt into pre-existing holes on a universal pole band. This setup allows the installer to adjust the attachment position and also accommodates poles of varying diameters, typically in the 8-to-14-inch range.
Design and Physical Characteristics
The assembly consists of two steel plates: an upper piece measuring 5/16 inch by 2.5 inches, and a lower piece measuring 3/16 inch by 2.5 inches. A 3/4-inch machine bolt and a cotter pin are used to secure the thimble eye of the guy wire.
