Application

This clevis is mainly applied in low-voltage overhead power distribution networks (typically below 1000V) and service drops.

Deadend Positions: Installed on terminal poles at the end of main lines or branch lines to withstand the high unidirectional mechanical tension of tightened conductors.

Corner Poles: Used at points where overhead lines change direction, balancing the radial pull caused by the angular deviation of the conductors.

Neutral & Secondary Line Fixation: Works in conjunction with spool insulators to support, insulate, and secure multi-strand transmission conductors or three-phase bundled cables.

Material and Protective Coating

To maintain long-term load-bearing capacity in harsh outdoor environments, strict material selection is essential:

*Clevis Body: Typically made of high-strength carbon steel (e.g., Q235, Q355, or A36), formed from channel or flat bar.

*Clevis Pin: Manufactured from quenched and tempered medium-carbon, high-tensile steel to resist bending and shear fracture.

*Cotter Key: Generally made of brass or stainless steel, offering excellent elasticity and corrosion resistance to prevent pin dislodgement.

*Surface Coating: Hot Dip Galvanizing (HDG) complying with ASTM A153 standard.

Manufacturing Process

To maintain long-term load-bearing capacity in harsh outdoor environments, strict material selection is essential:

1.Cutting & Punching: Steel is cut to specified lengths using a punch press, with mounting bolt holes and pin holes precisely punched.

2.Forming: The flat or channel steel is cold-formed or hot-formed into a U or D shape using a large press brake.

3.Surface Treatment: Hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) is applied per ASTM A-153 standards. The components are immersed in molten zinc, forming a dense zinc-iron alloy layer for superior corrosion protection.

4.Final Assembly: The U-shaped body is assembled with the machined pin and a self-locking cotter pin.

Compact & Secure Locking: The split-pin and clevis pin design allows easy installation. Simply remove the cotter pin, place the spool insulator into the clevis, reinsert the pin, and lock it—enabling quick and simple work at height.
